An American Airlines flight leaving from Los Angeles experienced a frightening engine malfunction Wednesday early morning, but 2 airplane mechanics onboard say the emergency landing was all of a sudden calm and regulated.

The airplane, Flight AA 1665, from Las Vegas to Charlotte, North Carolina, experienced an abrupt rise of stimulates and smoke soon after departure.

" We removed, and as quickly as the pilots put the gear up, it resembled pop, pop, pop over and over," Paige Mitchell, a plane mechanic in Las Vegas, told Fox 5. "You could sort of see like orange and yellow, like radiant, like every time you hear the pop."

Michael Lockett, a fellow traveler and Flying force veteran with decades of experience dealing with military airplane, stated the noise was right away identifiable and disconcerting.

" With my background, as quickly as it happened, I knew type of what it was because I've seen it on Air Force aircraft before," Lockett told the outlet.

Lockett remained outwardly calm but admitted to mentally bracing for the worst.

" I already knew it was an engine failure," he said. "I didn't say anything out loud due to the fact that I didn't want to, you know, get individuals riled up, so the most I did was simply hope up until we got back on the ground."

Mitchell said her mechanical impulses also had her bracing for a rough landing, however she was impressed by how smoothly the pilots brought the plane down, with emergency situation crews meeting travelers the ground in Vegas.

" I resembled 'oh, this is going to be rough', but no, they really put us down really nicely, and as soon as we hit the ground, they stopped, and there was fire engine and cops waiting on us," she said, including that the landing was" one of the smoothest landings I have actually ever experienced."

Both AA and the FAA informed The Independent that Wednesday's emergency situation return was due to a "mechanical concern."

" The aircraft taxied cab to eviction under its own power, and customers deplaned generally. We appreciate the professionalism of our team and thank our team who are working to get our clients to their destinations as rapidly as possible," an AA spokesperson said.
